We spent this Thanksgiving with my family in Western NY. It's about an 8 hour drive with Jay and he was so good both ways. We arrived at my Mom's the day before Thanksgiving. That night we had a nice dinner with my parents and sisters, put Jay to bed and then played some Apples to Apples. One of my favorite games!
Thanksgiving day was absolutely beautiful. It was sunny and 60 degrees. Not typical! We took Jay outside to enjoy the weather.
After enjoying some time outside, we headed out to visit with some of my family. First we went to my Uncle Steve and Aunt Julie's, then we went to my Uncle Guy and Aunt Suzie's. Jay was great during both visits. After that, we headed to Granny's to put Jay down for a nap. It took us awhile to get him to sleep, but he eventually went down. We let him sleep for about an hour and then woke him up to head next door to my Aunt Joyce and Uncle Ron's for dinner. I didn't take any pictures at Thanksgiving dinner or afterward, and I regret that. Jay enjoyed his meal, though we did miss having Butters around to clean up everything he threw on the floor!
The Friday after Thanksgiving was another busy day. We went back to Joyce and Ron's to visit with my cousin, her husband and children, since they weren't at Thanksgiving dinner. Jay had a lot of fun playing with his second cousins, Abby and Anna.
Afterward, we headed back to my Mom's so Jay could get a nap and a snack. Then we headed over to visit with Sarah, Bill and Trey and have dinner. Jay had his first French fry and loved it! Again, I didn't take any pictures while over there. I need to be better about that! It was a good time though and Jay had so much fun pushing around a giant ball of Trey's.
We headed back to Connecticut on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It was a brief but great visit with my family.

Jay - One Year Old!
I did Jay's One Year Birthday post, but I wanted to do another post about him as he turned a year old. It was amazing how quickly a year went by and what a transformation he's gone through in that time. He went from being a somewhat difficult newborn to a happy, go-lucky toddler, who smiles and laughs a good portion of the time. We can't imagine or barely even remember life without him!
Some facts about Jay as he turned a year old:
Weight: 24 lbs
Height: 31 in.
Number of Teeth: 5
Cothing Size: 12 months and 18 months
Diaper Size: Pampers 3
Favorite Things: going into cupboards and drawers, putting things into and pulling things out of drawers, boxes, etc., reading books, throwing balls, petting/pestering the animals, playing in the bathtub, playing with his toys
Jay was taking steps at his first birthday, but he didn't start full-fledged walking until about 10 days after.

Jay's First Birthday Parties
Jay turned one year old back on October 31st. We had two little get togethers for his birthday. Here are some pictures from each.
On Saturday, October 20th, Ray, Brigid, Serena and John came over for a little celebration. We had some pulled pork, baked beans and coleslaw for dinner, followed by some apple crisp and vanilla ice cream for dessert. He was unsure of the ice cream at first, but in the end he liked it! We also took the opportunity to get some family pictures. Jay was a little ham all day and had lots of fun.
On Jay's actual birthday, we had a little celebration with my Mom, Lisa, Karen and Becky via Skype. We were happy my Mom and Lisa were able to make it. We were a little unsure they would because of Hurricane Sandy! That day we dressed Jay up in his Halloween costume, with the intention of taking him around the neighborhood for a little bit. He was exhausted though, so we didn't end up doing that. Instead we put him down for a late nap and enjoyed the lasagna dinner that Karen had prepared. Afterward, we woke Jay up and then opened his presents. We didn't get any pictures during present opening (we forgot!), but there are some of him playing with his new toys. After presents, we had some cupcakes. Surprisingly, Jay was not a fan of the cupcakes, though his chocolate-covered face may indicate otherwise. He barely ate them though and much preferred munching on some grapes! After cupcakes, it was time for a quick bath, and then Jay got to party until 10pm. Way past his bedtime, but he was having so much fun!
