Weekends and Happy Birthday Justin!

Well, I'm not off to a great start with updating once a week!   I didn't really get on the computer last weekend though and it's tough to get much extra stuff done on the weeknights.

My first Mother's Day was really nice.  Justin let me sleep in both days, which was quite a treat.  The weather was absolutely beautiful, so we spent a lot of time outdoors.  Saturday we hung out around the house and I did some weeding in the gardens.  Sunday we had some of Justin's family over for brunch.  After that it was just a lazy afternoon.  I had wanted to go out in the gardens again, but I was too tired.  We didn't take many pictures on Mother's Day; it didn't really occur to me to get pictures until late in the day.  Here's a couple of me and Jay though, plus a cute video:

This weekend has been equally beautiful, weatherwise.  It's also Justin's birthday weekend!  Unfortunately, he didn't get what he wanted for his birthday yesterday, which was a New Jersey Devils win.  We left Jay at home with a sitter on Friday night and went out for a nice steak dinner.  Today Justin's out golfing with some friends.  That should be a good time, so hopefully the Devil's loss won't completely mar his weekend.

While Justin's out golfing today, I hope to go to DSW with Jay to get some shoes for a wedding we're attending next weekend.  We'll see how this trip to the store goes!  We've taken him to the grocery store with no problem, so I'm hoping this will go just the same.  I also hope I find some shoes!

Jay - 6 Month Appointment

Jay had his 6 month appointment yesterday and he did so great!  He is 75th percentile for height and weight at 27 1/2 inches and 19 pounds.  Aside from a sinus infection, the doctor said he is perfect.  He was due for a nap while we were at the appointment and he didn't get cranky at all.  Just kept hugging me and giving me big, wet kisses...such a sweetie!  The shots at the end didn't even get him down.  He cried for about 30 seconds and then he was fine.

He has been babbling up a storm lately.  It is so funny!  I tried to get it on video this morning, but I mistakenly had my finger over the mic on my iPhone, so there's no sound.  I'm sure I'll be able to get it at some point though and when I do, I'll definitely share.

In the meantime, here are some recent pictures of Jay, plus a video taken last week.

Our Gardens

...are overwhelming me right now.   I neglected them last year when I was pregnant and now they need some work.  It's tough to find the time to work in them though, plus, I'm kind of at a loss of what to do.  I think if I can get them cleaned and mulched I'll at least have a good starting point.  Here's what they look like now:

The back is in really bad shape and that's the most overwhelming part.  Skunk cabbage and weeds have just taken it over.  I have an idea for back there, but man, it's going to take a lot of work.

Hopefully I'll be posting updates with some good progress on these gardens.  Any suggestions are welcome!

Finally

Well, I finally set up a blog after probably a year or so of thinking about it.  Now, we'll see how often I update it.  My goal right now is once a week...I'm hoping I can at least commit to that!  I can't even commit to cooking dinner twice a week right now, so this might be pushing it!
