Jay - 7 Months

And now, the post I started a week ago...

Jay's 7 1/2 months old!  He's sitting up extremely well on his own and is so close to crawling.  He wants to so badly and he does manage to scoot himself backwards and twist himself around quite a bit.  Mostly he just gets stuck on his stomach and gets frustrated.  He'll get it one day soon, we have no doubt about that.  Here's a video of him moving from two weekends ago:

Here are some recent pictures as well:

Last Saturday I took Jay to the allergist to test for some food allergies.  A month or so ago, he broke out in hives.  It happened two days after I fed him a puree of spinach, apples and rutabaga and he was also on amoxicillin at the time.  They tested him for the foods mentioned, as well as almonds and eggs and I think one or two more.  Thankfully he wasn't allergic to any of it!  He had another appointment scheduled to test the amoxicillin, but the allergist talked me out of it.  He said the test is way worse than the reaction Jay had and it likely wasn't the amoxicillin anyway.  I was glad the doctor was so honest with me.  I hope we never have to see the allergist again, but if we do, I'll definitely go to him.

While at the doctor's I noticed that Jay is also getting his first tooth!  We figured this was coming.  He's been drooling up a storm and banging his mouth on our shoulders repeatedly.  It's on the bottom, right-center.  I'm guessing we'll see some others emerging very soon.

Some more pics and another video of the little man:

Sick Baby

Sorry Mom!  I told you on Wednesday that I'd be posting pictures and a video of Jay soon.  Obviously, that didn't happen.

Poor little guy started with a fever at daycare on Wednesday afternoon and it was downhill from there.   Justin stayed home with him on Thursday and took him to see the doctor.  Just a run-of-the-mill virus, along with teething, and she recommended using infant ibuprofen.  That sure seems to make a difference, but it's been a slow recovery.

He's still been battling a fever (highest was 103.2, taken underarm) and he has been a mess of snot and drool.   I stayed home with him yesterday and it was a bit of a rough go.  The worst part was that he couldn't breathe through his nose, so drinking a bottle was difficult and messy.  Oh, and his night sleeping has been awful.  That's been rough, last night especially.  Thank goodness it was not a work night!  Here are some post-ibuprofen pics from yesterday.  He was so cheery, despite being sick.  The last one is from when he should have been sleeping.

Today he's been a lot better, aside from the horrible sleeping last night (that was probably rougher on us than him!).  We actually went out for dinner at J. Timothy's  since he seemed to be feeling better.  That went well, except for the fact that he's a busybody these days.  Always moving and grabbing and trying to get into trouble :-) We had to take turns holding him and eating, but it was still a good time.  We're so glad he's feeling better.

And, I'm probably going to regret saying this...but he's still sleeping right now and that is a big step in the right direction.  Now maybe I can finish the post I started nearly a week ago :-)

Memorial Day

Yikes, lots of catching up to do here!  I guess I'll start with a bit on our Memorial Day weekend.

Justin and I went to Savannah, GA for our friend from college's wedding.  Justin was actually in the wedding party.  We flew down on Friday morning and flew back on Sunday morning.  It was a quick trip, but it was a nice time away.   We stayed at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa, which is also where the reception was held.  It was a nice hotel and we had a view of the river and the city.  Big container ships traveled by several times while we were there.  Here's a picture I captured from our room:

Friday evening we attended the rehearsal dinner, which was held at the Olde Pink House.  Lots of good food and drinks!  The appetizers were all fried and delicious and the Pink Lady signature drink (vodka and pink lemonade) went down way too easily!  For dinner I went with a true southern food, shrimp and grits.  It was pretty good.  After dinner we went with a group to a "sports" bar called Isaac's.  I say "sports" bar because they didn't really have many sports channels for their TVs.  Poor Justin wanted so badly to see the Devils and Rangers play, but we couldn't find anywhere that showed the game.  So he had to settle for getting updates via his phone.  The Devils ended up winning, which was great, but it sure would have been nice if he'd been able to see that game!

Saturday we both got to sleep in, woo hoo!  After grabbing some breakfast, I headed into Savannah to look for a dress to wear to the wedding.  The brand new dress I packed ended up having a terrible odor on it, so I could not wear it.  I don't know how I tried it on twice and didn't notice that it stunk!  So, it was a minor annoyance, but I had a good time walking around Savannah.  I did end up finding a dress that was cheaper and that I liked better, so it worked out all around.  Here's a few pics from my walk that morning:

The ceremony and reception were both lovely and we had a great time hanging out with friends we hadn't see in several years.  I honestly didn't take any pictures of the ceremony or reception, but here's a couple of Justin and I from later in the night:

While we were gone, Jay spent the weekend with Justin's mom.  They both seemed to have a great time.  We missed the little guy tons, but it was nice to get away and we were happy he got some one-on-one time with Grandma:
