Last weekend winter storm Nemo socked us with a ton of snow
and wind. Four days later and many
schools are still closed and towns are trying to dig out. Driving is dangerous because of the huge
piles of snow blocking the view and parking in some places is a complete
disaster. The pile of snow in our front
yard from the plow is as tall as me.
That’s going to be there awhile!
The storm started Friday morning, with some light snow. I worked from home the entire day; Justin and
Jay went in for a few hours in the morning.
My office ended up closing at noon on Friday, so I got the afternoon
off! The snow and wind picked up as
Friday wore on, but the real craziness hit over night.
Saturday morning came and I had to let the dog out. Except I couldn’t because I was faced with
this:
Thankfully Justin got up and shoveled Butters a spot on the
deck off of the garage. Butters wasn’t
happy about the accommodations, but he did eventually go. Later in the morning, I let Butters out again
and he jumped the three steps off the deck.
Big mistake! His head was just
barely still above the snow. He had
quite a difficult time getting himself unburied and back up the steps. I thought I was going to have to wade into
the snow and pull him out!
Our nice neighbors lent us their snow blower, so Justin
spent 3 ½ hours in the afternoon clearing our driveway and walk. I felt so badly for him. It was hard work!
On Sunday, Justin cleared out a bit more snow and then we
took Jay and Butters out for a walk.
Here are some pictures from that:
They’re calling for more snow tonight and then again on
Saturday…ugh! Hopefully it won’t amount
to much and won't cause any problems for my dad and sister who will be driving in to see us. Something tells me we’ll be
looking at the snow from Nemo for quite some time!
